Maternity photos and Gender Reveal!!!

Its the post you've all been waiting for!!!
Last week we met up with our dear friend Kaylee of Kaylee B Photography at a beautiful park near the Deschutes River for some fun photos to reveal the sex of our sweet baby! Without further ado...

Its A Boy!!!!!

Hubs and I couldn't be more thrilled! When we were trying, and in the early stages of pregnancy we didn't really care what the sex of our baby way. I was on team Girl up until I started feeling movement around 16 weeks, and I immediately KNEW it was a boy. Like father like son, the kid is crazy active and definitely lets me know when he is ready for some food! I feel like I'm getting to know his personality already too, like if we poke and prod at my belly, he reacts. Almost as if to say, "leave me alone mama!" I'm so in love with this babe already, its sick.
The next most FAQ after sex is a name... so do you want to know?!

Yep, baby Henryk will be joining the family, come January! Hubs and I both have a strong polish background, and the captain of our Detroit Red Wings happens to be Henrik Zetterberg, so that was a small piece of our inspiration for the name. The meaning of the name Henryk is Lord of the House, so we thought it was rather fitting as well. We actually chose names for both sexes before we knew what we were having, so it has been pretty easy. However, if he comes out and doesn't look like a Henryk, we have a backup name as well.

How about some more adorableness of my hubs and I and our bump?

Bless Old Navy and their maternity department. I have to give props to those skinny jeans, the fit is great and they are so comfy!! Do yourself a favor a grab a pair if you're prego... you won't regret it! I imagine I'll wear them a few weeks postpartum as well. Comfort beats cute for me, and these are literally one step above maxi skirts and yoga pants.

I know I've mentioned a few times that one of my closest friends, Kendall and her man Chuck are expecting as well. As of today she hasn't delivered, but we are talking any day now! Come on baby!

She joined us for a few fun shots as well. Love this lady, and I can't wait to meet her little man!

Well that sums it up folks! Baby boy for hubs and I and we couldn't be any happier! So tell me, did you, or will you do maternity photos? What did you do for gender reveal, if you did it at all?! How bout future BBF shots?  We couldn't resist after this Pinterest inspiration...

Inspiring Nursery Round-Up

Probably the most frequently asked question about our future child, is if we have started on the nursery yet! Truth be told, we haven't, other than some major de-cluttering and eviction of old pieces of furniture. Our guest room is becoming the nursery, I haven't figured out what we will do for guests yet. The good thing is, baby won't be sleeping in the nursery until they are probably 4 months old at least, so we will probably leave the bed in there until that point.

We decided pretty early on that we wanted a forest/woodland 'theme' for baby's room. I use the word theme loosely, as I despise rooms that are too overdone in a theme. I prefer a general idea of said theme, versus looking like you bought every piece that read 'woodland' in the baby store.Be sure to click through to the original sources if you like what you see! So much inspiration out in blogland! Without further ado, here is a round-up of nurseries that we adore and are gathering inspiration from!

We will start here. This wall color. Perfection. The color is Porcelain Shale by Valspar. Our nursery is a room filled with light, and this tone of gray is neither red nor blue! Perfect, chalky neutral. We will also be doing the lower portion of the room white, just like this photo. We will install a chunky white chair rail to separate the space and add some architectural detail, which will  hopefully grow with baby as the room matures.

I love the wallpaper in this room, as well as the white dresser with the wood crib. Our crib is a hand-me-down from my mom, shockingly enough. My selfless parents were foster parents for the last few years, and she bought the crib off Craigslist from a gal I actually used to work with! Small world up here in Oregon. It is from Restoration Hardware and it is a piece of art. Gorgeous. We will be using the Hemnes 8 drawer dresser from Ikea for our nursery. I trolled Craigslist for a while for the perfect dresser, but it wasn't appearing. This dresser, which will double as our changing table, will last for baby as it matures. To get the faux bois element into our woodland nursery, I am sewing curtains from this lovely fabric. I am in loooove!

This is my absolute favorite nursery I have stumbled across. Light, bright and doesn't scream baby. So much inspiration in this room. I have already begun a DIY project based off an element of this room, you'll have to stay tuned to see what that is! Be sure to click through on this one. The changing table/dresser is incredible, and hubs is building me a tray just like theirs (instructions included at the source), so we don't have to worry about the little one sliding off the table.

First of all... Baby Henry... adorable. Ok, moving on, I LOVE love love LOVE that Locally Grown sign, made by Onion Grove Mercantile. Like adore with every fiber of my being. So if someone wanted to be a doll and get one made for me, representing Bend, Oregon of course. I would certainly not object!

I love to read. My parents spent hours of time reading to my brother and I when we were young and I plan on doing the same for my child. Our nursery will definitely include some major floating bookshelves, so little baby can choose their own books when they are ready! Blogland is full of awesome floating shelf ideas, so my inspiration is limitless in that department!

Whew!  A short, but extensive list, and small peek inside my crazy pregnant brain! Be sure to follow my Miniwick Pinterest board for even more baby inspiration.

I know I haven't revealed what we're having yet, and I'm sorry BUT! We did finally get some maternity shots taken, I am just waiting on the disc from our wonderful photographer, Kaylee of Kaylee B Photography. So next week, I promise you will get a gender reveal and even a name!
Stay tuned!

Getting Laid

Our new andesite path that is!!!
A few months back, we asked my mom, who used to be a landscape designer, to draw up a plan for our super boring front yard. This is what she came up with!

Our lot is quite narrow at the street and really wide in the back, its perfect! We have a huge backyard and tiny-ish front area. No complaints here! We love the plan Mom came up with, so we (James) started with the install of the path.

VERY first! Call 811 before you dig and have your utility companies come mark where they are. Save yourself the hassle of hitting a water or gas line. Its worth it!
First we measured and flagged it out so we could run a cord along the edge, which I painted over to mark our edges. Then James went through with our edger tool and cut the sod into chunks small enough for him to lift. Grass is heavy! He then rolled it out and tossed it into the back of our truck. We took it to our local recycling center for disposal, it was only $5 to dump!

Next, we got a yard and a 1/4 of 3/4inch sand and raked that in as our base. The stones we used are 2", so we needed to build up a firm base to rest them on and bring them to level with our driveway.

Then came install! Our stones were delivered from Instant Landscaping for the low cost of $40, and off we went! Hubs has a time lapse of this process, I will see if I can upload it here.

Here is the path with the stones in, but no fill dirt. Up until this point, I'd been acting as forewoman of the project. Lots of directing, not too much heavy lifting. Hey. I'm pregnant ya'll!

The final step was my time to shine though. I purchased ten creeping thyme plants and planted them in some of the cracks, then filled in with top soil! Here is the final project!

I know its a little blown out, good ol' midday photo for ya! But we are super pleased with the final outcome! Its so nice to have the massive expanse of lawn broken up now, and a more organic path leading from the sidewalk to the front door. Next we are tackling the blank are in front of the windows. James expanded the bed size last night, so we are ready for top soil and plants!!

What do you think of our new path? Any landscaping tips for us? Leave your thoughts in the comments!
